Lung Cancer Treatment in Sweden Study Visit

Eight lung cancer-specialists from the China Medical Association visited lung cancer treatment clinics in Sweden.

On May 30th and 31st, we were visited by eight lung cancer specialists from China Medical Association, both from Beijing and Shanghai.

Schedule on May 30
In the morning, we went to Uppsala University Hospital to visit the Department of Oncology where we got a warm welcome from Section chief of oncology Peter J Asplund, oncologist Magnus Lindskog and Kristina Lamberg, as well as administrative staff Therese Hedstrand.

They gave a presentation about:
– Uppsala University
– The Department of Oncology
– a lung cancer MDT model within hospitals in Sweden
– common treatment/method applied in lung cancer internal medicine
– fundamental research and study based on lung cancer aspect

After the presentations, we had lunch together.

In the afternoon, we participated in the patient case study, leading by Dr Magnus Lindskog together with Dr Kristina Lamberg through video conference calls with other local hospitals in Sweden.

Schedule on May 31 
We arrived at New Karolinska Hospital in the morning and visited the newly built Lung Cancer clinic. Presentations were held by Chief physician Dr Gunnar Wagenius about Lung cancer department at Karolinska University Hospital and Lung Cancer Quality Registry. Dr. Simon Ekman showed us recent studies and research.

After presentations, we had the opportunity to visit Clinical trial unit and see how they work. In the end, Dr Simon Ekman showed us around and had guided tour in the new Hospital environment.
