Global Health and International Health in Geneva

This course brought students from Indiana University together with global health- and humanitarian organizations, experts, and practitioners at international levels.

In the spring of 2023, we had the honor to lead graduate and postgraduate students for a study program about Global health in Geneva, Switzerland. This is a faculty-led program that we have collaborated with Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health, Indiana University for some years now. We are Happy to have the students back to join our study abroad program in Geneva after 3 years’ of waiting for the pandemic situation to end.

The program aims to provide an overview of global health as a field, with focus on the operations of the World Health Organization (WHO) and its collaborative actors, with the opportunity to compare and contrast systems in Switzerland and the United States.

About the course

The students had the in-depth study visits to meeting health experts and leaders from the World Health Organization, UNIADIS, Medecins Sans Frontieres, United Nations Office, the Global Health Institute at the University of Geneva and a guided tour to Red Cross Museum.

Not even to mention an authentic Swiss cultural and historical experience in the old town Carouge and ended up with Degustation tour at Chocolate factory!
