Intensive language training in Swedish for health professionals

If you want to work as a healthcare practitioner in Sweden, you need to obtain a license. The prerequisites for obtaining a license include full proficiency in Swedish language. Swedish HealthCare Academy provides a preparatory program including intensive language studies to prepare the student for the subsequent theoretical and clinical proficiency tests (performed in Swedish language). All are courses and programs are conducted by professional, experienced teachers.

About our General Swedish language courses

Our intensive, full-time Swedish language courses are performed according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) covering levels A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1. Students advance from each level after passing a Swedex test. Swedex provides a standard for international certificate of Swedish as a foreign language that is acknowledged by the Swedish Institute.

About our Medical Swedish courses

All of our medical Swedish courses can be studied independently from and/or together with our Swedish Language courses. Medical Swedish consists of:

  • medical terminology
  • diseases and epicrisis
  • patient case studies
  • medical record keeping
  • patient ethics
  • meeting and treating patients
  • patient communication
  • routines and procedures at the clinic
  • medical record system (computer program for journals)
  • working culture in Swedish health care

Included in the course are also language practice at a health care center, invited lecturers from the health care sector, open lectures related to health care, study visits at hospitals, laboratory, pharmacy and other health care related institutions.

Additional services

Swedish HealthCare Academy supports students with all practical issues related to relocating to and living in Sweden, i.e. visa permits, finding accommodations as well as settling in and managing daily life aspects like using public transportation, health care, banking, insurance, childcare, etc.
